The Government of Bangladesh, through the Dhaka North City Corporation, is exploring a prospective project to improve the accessibility and quality of urban healthcare services with the digitalization of one general hospital and 46 community health centers throughout the 54 northern wards of Dhaka. In the context of rapid urbanization and increasing pressure on an already overstretched healthcare system, the potential project will help enhance technological connectivity and improve access to healthcare services. Considerable social impact including productivity gains and health cost savings from the potential project is anticipated.
The Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF) grant will be used to undertake technical analysis of the preliminary engineering design; financial and economic analysis; institutional capacity evaluation; and the overall scoping definition of the potential project. In order to catalyze private sector participation in the long run for the potential project and across the country, the GIF grant will also support a Public-Private Partnership landscape analysis to help identify a suitable business model to engage the private sector.
