The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has signed letters of intent with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to promote knowledge exchange and technical cooperation on biodiversity conservation, nature and sustainable infrastructure.
Ajay Bhushan Pandey, AIIB Vice President, Investment Solutions, signed the letters on the sidelines of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) in Yerevan, Armenia, respectively with Grethel Aguilar, Director General of IUCN, and Daudi Sumba, Chief Conservation Officer of WWF.
The signings provide a basis for continued engagement among the three organizations on sustainable infrastructure development. AIIB will explore opportunities for knowledge exchange, technical cooperation and capacity building with IUCN and WWF, drawing on their respective expertise and mandates. Together, the three institutions will also explore how biodiversity expertise and nature-based solutions can inform infrastructure decisions, helping reduce harm to nature and support more resilient development.
